Dental Prophylaxis

Unfortunately, many pet owners are not advised to seek dental care for their pets until there is a visible problem in the mouth and a "routine" dental cleaning becomes periodontal therapy with extractions. A dental prophylaxis or comprehensive oral health assessment and treatment at Veterinary Dental Center of Tulsa involves multiple steps. It varies by patient, but the first dental cleaning on a small dog or cat should take place by one year of age. Larger dogs may be able to wait until two years of age. ​
