Dental Prophylaxis

In addition to advanced dental procedures, Veterinary Dental Center of Tulsa also performs preventative dentistry (dental prophylaxis). Unfortunately, many pet owners are not advised to seek dental care for their pets until there is a visible problem in the mouth and a "routine" dental cleaning becomes periodontal therapy with extractions. A dental prophylaxis or comprehensive oral health assessment and treatment at Veterinary Dental Center of Tulsa involves multiple steps. It varies by patient, but the first dental cleaning on a small dog or cat should take place by one year of age. Larger dogs may be able to wait until two years of age.
